Cheap Domain Names

Domain name prices are all over the place, and if you're uncertain as to whether or not you should choose the cheapest registrar, or instead pay a premium price, read on!

All domain name registrars must be authorized by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). There aren't a huge number of these registrars - many of the companies you see online are affiliates of the primary registrars.

This is not a bad thing, in fact, far from it. Years ago you couldn't touch a domain name for less than $35 per year. Domain names, along with hosting and the plethora of other services offered for websites, are part of a price-driven economy, and therefore competition has driven the prices for them down to under $10 in many cases.

This means you may as well search for the cheapest price you can find. If you purchase a (dot) com name, you'll often be offered the net, biz, and org names at one low price as a bonus. If you have an awesome domain name that you don't want anyone else infringing upon, you may want to register those just to keep them out of the hands of your competition.

Along with a cheap domain name price, you'll be offered inexpensive hosting too. With hosting plans as low as $5 per month, it makes it quite inexpensive to have a website. If you use a free WordPress theme to set it up, once you've added free PayPal payment functionality, you can sell products online for a very low annual cost.

No wonder there are so many websites online!

This doesn't mean that there are too many to compete with, though. Get your website all set up, then contact an online marketing specialist to help your site get found on the search engines. We're still in the wild, wild west when it comes to the Internet, so you may take advantage of this great opportunity!
